BUIKWE DISTRICT HEALTH SECTOR

The district has three health sub districts (HSDS). These are:-

• Buikwe west health sub district
• Buikwe south health sub district
• Buikwe north health sub district.

The district has 53 health units including 5 Hospitals; 26 of all health units are public health facilities.

Kawolo hospital is a public (Government) Hospital

St. Charles Lwanga – Buikwe, Nyenga and Nkokonjeru Hospital – private not for profit (PNFP) Hospitals which are SCL, all owned by the catholic medical bureau.

Scoul, ligazi hospital is a private hospital owned by the sugar corporation of Uganda limited (SCOUL)

Health centre iv: The district has no health centre iv.

Buikwe has 13 health centre IIIS of which 2 are PNFPs, 10 are public and 1 is institutional (army)

Many health centres have been renovated.
